15. OUR COVENANT AS A NATION OF PRIESTS FOR HAVING FINE CLOTHING
Lord, we give thanks that You said in Ex 19:5-6, if we will indeed obey Your voice and keep Your covenant, then we shall be Your own possession among all the people, for all the earth is Yours; and we shall be to You a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. (Rev 5:10) You even said in 1 pet 2:9 that we are to represent the kingdom of God in priestly garments. Then You described our garments in four ways: they are to be of high moral standards lest we come before You in our nakedness and be destroyed: (Rev 3:4-5) they are to be of the finest quality materials along with precious stones and gold; they are of bright, royal colors; they are not to be ripped, torn, or full of holes in order that we would be fit to represent You to the world. I thank You, Father, that You even showed us that we have excellent hats that are to be a part of our apparel. In Ex 39:28 You gave us goodly bonnets. In Zac 3:4-5, You said to take away the filthy garments from us. To us You said to look and see for You "have removed our iniquity from us, and You will clothe us with rich robes." You said, "let them put a clean turban on our head." So, they put clean turbans on us and the Angel of the Lord stood by. Then in Joshua 22:8, You said, "Return with much riches to your tents, with very much livestock, with silver, with gold, with bronze, with iron, and with very much clothing. Divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren. Again in Ps 45:13-14, You said the royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; her clothing is woven with gold. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors. Thank You, Father, we will come to our King Jesus in royal robes of many colors. For You said in Ezek. 16:8-14 that when You passed by us again and looked upon us, indeed our time was the time of love; so You spread Your wings over us and covered our nakedness. Yes, You swore an oath to us and entered into a covenant with us, and we became Yours, Oh Lord God. Then You washed us in water; yes, You thoroughly washed off our blood, and You anointed us with oil. You clothed us in embroidered cloth and gave us sandals of badger skin. You clothed us with fine linen and covered us with silk. You adorned us with ornaments, put bracelets on our wrists, and put a chain on our neck. And You put a jewel in our nose, earrings in our ears, and a beautiful crown with gold and silver on our head. Our clothing was of fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth. We ate pastry of fine flour, honey, and oil. We were exceedingly beautiful , and succeeded to royalty. Our fame went out among the nations because of our beauty, for it was perfect through Your splendor which You, Father, had bestowed on us. Then, in Luke 12:22-23, 27-32, You said not to worry about our life, what we will eat; nor about the body, what we will put on. Live is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the lilies how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet You say to us, even Solomon in all his glory ( 1Kings 10:1-24) was not arrayed like one of these. If then, God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you O you of little faith? And do not seek what we should eat or what we should drink, nor have an anxious mind that we need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to us. Jesus said, "Do not fear, little flock, for it is our Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Than You, Father, that in Deut 6:11, You said You would fill our houses with good things that we didn't have to provide. Amen.
