Chapter Fifteen
The Gods of Egypt

The Arch, cleverly disguised as one of the many arched
doorways, opened into a causeway of gigantic pillars and arches. The compound was packed
with people. No one noticed them in the crowd.
"I wonder how many people accidentally got lost in the
Arch by going in the wrong one," Dan mused to himself.
"We need a way to identify this Arch so we can find it
again." Belinda fought to maintain her position near them in the crowd. "In
answer to your question. I don't believe they can go through the Arch without turning it
on. It's just another Arch without that, but who knows?"
Dan took out his jack knife, which had traveled with him
through time, deftly made a small cut in his thumb and smeared the blood on the Arch at
eye level. "Now let's find something to eat."
As they moved along with the crowd. "In answer to your
question. I don't believe they can go through the Arch without turning it on. It's just
another Arch with that, but who knows?"
Dan took out his jack knife, which had traveled with him
through time, deftly made a small cut in his thumb and smeared the blood on the Arch at
eye level. "Now let's find something to eat."
As they moved along with the crowd they could hear the
distant strains of music growing louder. The smell of food grew stronger, as well.
Practically drooling in anticipation, Dan pushed his way
through the mass of milling people until he came to a large courtyard filled with booths
and food. No one seemed to be in the booths. Long tables filled with various types of food
stood in open invitation to all who were hungry, but no one was collecting money. Not
questioning his good fortune, Dan filled his hands and mouth with food. People around him
were doing the same. Finally the others found him and joined in, thanking God for His
provision.
They moved from booth to booth and freely sampled anything
that looked good to them. Laura stuffed fruits and breads into the p pocket folds of her
tunic.
People danced to the music without restraint. Some were
even performing sexual acts out in the open, not seeming to care if they were seen.
Embarrassed, Laura and Belinda looked the other way. Dan,
Phil and Jeremiah watched in amazement.
"This must be one of those famous orgies I've heard
about," Dan grinned as he chewed contentedly on a morsel of food.
Suddenly a young woman dressed only in a thin silver belt,
grabbed Dan and began moving against him with her lips firmly planted on his.
Stunned, he pulled her arms from around his neck and pushed
her back. "I like it to be my idea, lady!"
A nude young man grabbed her as she fell back and they
proceeded to make love on the spot.
"Man, I thought things were bad in our
time!" Dan commented as he turned to the others. "Let's go somewhere else."
"Somehow, I don't think that will be
possible," Phil commented as he pointed to guards surrounding the courtyard.
"This must be a celebration. Can you make out the shape just beyond those
guards?"
"It is one of the pyramids," Jeremiah announced.
"There is a solid mass of people all the way to the base.
"Perhaps it is a celebration of the finish of the
third pyramid." Belinda made her way closer with the others following. Zeus and Ra
will soon make an appearance, I'm sure."
"I didn't think they ruled when the third
pyramid was built." Phil struggled to stay close behind Belinda pulling Laura with
him.
"Most people think they know and understand
Egyptian history, but they never give credence to the flood of Noah's time so leave out a
whole period of history they know nothing about. They think the pyramids are tombs, but
they are not. They are to honor the god of forces.
"Let's get as close as we can. I'm sure the
spectacle will begin soon."
As they slowly made their way closer and closer, they could
see a platform with a series of steps. Each step had a huge being with a long golden
trumpet in his hand. They stood on either side of the platform. They were magnificently
dressed in gold, silver and gems that glittered in the sun. They stood absolutely still as
if made of stone until a signal, only they could hear, caused them to raise their trumpets
to their lips in perfect unison. The trumpet blast could be heard for miles as the musical
notes rose in volume. Everyone stopped where they were and silence fell across the crowd.
Ra and Zeus appeared from nowhere in the middle of the
platform and it raised in the air, floating above the mass of people. They all fell on
their faces as they waited for their gods to speak.
Ra spoke first, his voice loud enough to reach everyone.
His language was unfamiliar to all of them. Zeus took his turn. Both of them turned to
announce another. A beautiful woman scantily clad in gold and jewels appeared between
them. She lifted her arms as if blessing the people.
"Who is she?" Phil asked Belinda as they hid
behind a pillar so no one would see they were not bowing. "I thought there were no
female angels."
"If she is the one I think she is, either Ra or Zeus
is her father, but she has a human mother. She is Isis, Diana, Hathor and all the mother
fertility gods rolled into one. She is beautiful, powerful and absolutely evil. She
is goddess of sex, drugs and rock and roll. The people love her because she represents
physical pleasure in all its forms."
A command was shouted and all the people stood to their
feet. As they all watched their goddess performed sex with both Ra and Zeus. The crowd
gasped as she spread her lags and delivered a baby with the body of a cat and the head of
a human. She held it up and it began to grow until it was as tall as she. It looked like
the Sphinx.
The four beings on the platform looked upward. The crowd
did the same. Points of light in the sky grew steadily larger. There were three of them.
Each one came to rest on top of each pyramid. They were huge ships big enough to carry
thousands.
"Flying saucers?" Laura stared in amazement.
As they watched, the beings on the platform floated up in a
beam of light and disappeared into the closest ship.
The ship moved slowly off the top of the pyramid and
stopped just above the crowd. People screamed and tried to hide themselves, but there was
nowhere to go. Beams of light came out of the ship. Several people disappeared.
Dan and the others ran for the Arch dodging in and out of
throngs of hysterical people.
A beam of light hit Jeremiah. He froze.
Dan and Phil grabbed for him and pulled him out. He was
gasping and choking.
A booming voice, like thunder, spoke a command and the
people grabbed for them. The guards around the perimeter threw spears, not caring if the
spears hit others instead.
Pulling Jeremiah they all ran.
Belinda fell as hands pulled at her. The others
stopped to help. She screamed at them to go on and get to the Arch.
Dan and Phil together tore the hands away that locked on
Belinda. They went down beneath a pile of bodies.
Laura and Jeremiah fell on top of the pile and tried to
fight their way to their friends.
A big green beam of light from the hovering ship brought
them all up into the ship. Choking and gasping, the people that held them let go and stood
in terrified silence before their gods.
Ra dismissed them with a wave of his hand and they
disappeared. Only the five time travelers remained, gasping and bleeding from their
ordeal.
Hathor, Ra , Zeus and the Sphinx creature watched in
Amusement. Zeus looked furious as he observed Laura hiding her head on Phil's shoulder.
"My little shadow friends have given me a report of
your doings Being a bride of a god was not good enough for you?"
Laura buried her face deeper into Phil's shoulder.
"Look at me!" Zeus shouted at Laura, his
voice echoing like a continuous roll of thunder. His eyes had turned flame red with his
anger.
Laura looked up into his face wondering what she had ever
seen in him. Her hand remained locked in Phil's reassuring grip.
"Claim your authority in Christ and he can't hurt
you." Phil whispered to her urgently.
"Who is this Christ, you speak of. I recognize no such
authority!" Zeus boomed.
"He is the Son of the Most High God and in His name we
rebuke you and your companions."
Ra, Zeus and the others laughed in derision. All of them
flashed fiery beams from their fingers to torture and destroy them. The beams stopped just
before reaching their faces.
The light from the fiery beams lit up the faces of the time
travelers then curved back into the hands of those who had sent them causing their hands
to smoke and steam. Zeus screamed in pain and fury. Ra, the creature and Hathor screamed
and held their hands up in amazement.
Dan grinned. "Let us go! Our God is more powerful than
all of you put together."
"Amen to that," Phil shouted. "Let us go.
Now!"
A glowing bubble formed around them them separating
them from Ra and the others. Slowly the ship faded away and they found themselves in front
of the Arch.
"Wow! That was great!" Dan exulted.
"Don't get too complacent," Belinda warned.
"Now they know about us. When they sort through all those two demons told them, you
can bet they will laying traps for us whenever and wherever they can."
Smiles left the faces of the others as they contemplated
what Belinda said. Victory was theirs in Christ. Even so, they had to be ever on their
guard.
Soberly they went into the Arch and Belinda pointed them in
the direction of the opening that led to the underworld.
